about thombarnett.com
Well, I spend most of my "free" time playing guitar, sax, keys, bass, and harmonica.
It's a good time. I also enjoy making eclectic mix CDs from my vast CD collection.
I enjoy most styles of music and my favorites consist mostly of the American fab five (blues, rock, jazz, country, and R&B).Sometimes I even "get down" with a little classical and old gospel quartets (less Gaither more Fairfield Four). I enjoy music that is creative and masterfully done (e.g. Mark Knopfler, Van Morrison, The Boss, Leonard Cohen, etc).
You may be wondering why I made this site. An obvious reason is that I dig Web Design. Also, I love music and want to share my knowledge with everyone. Every time you visit thombarnett.com, you can learn something new.
I also enjoy downloading various free operating systems such as Debian, Ubuntu (based on Debian, a good 'starter' Linux, and my personal favorite), Slackware (I installed an XFCE version of this and it was a lot of fun on an old laptop), Gentoo, and of course Fedora (another good starter version with a bunch of packages [software] to choose from).
In addition, family members (and curious parties), can read the Barnett Story, written by Clarence Eastwood, that has been passed around at the family reunions in Conconully. Special thanks to Al Larric (Denzo Barnett's stepson) for graciously emailing the story to me!
I've given up on trying to keep up multiple blogs, so my current blog can be found here. There is probably a lot of stuff I'm forgetting, but anyway... enjoy the site. Check out the gallery, samples of my latest recording projects, the guitar chord and scale generator (requires javascript enabled browser), musical scales & modes, or just meander about my site. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or if you just want to get in touch.
